SPUR, a leading Bay Area civic planning organization that promotes good planning and governance through research, education and advocacy, recently published a white paper with ideas to bring new life to San Jose’s St. James Park. MJMMG’s Jim Chappell and Jonathon Goldberg are proud to have contributed to this important project by providing best practices from their extensive experience in public space management.
A collaboration of community
SPUR’s A Roadmap for St. James Park was written and prepared in consultation with the San Jose Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services and the Office of Economic Development.
A vision of success
The goal of the project is to return St. James Park to a premier civic space that is used and loved by residents, businesses and visitors. The white paper recommends a preferred management and governance strategy to create the foundation for improved stewardship, a renewed vision, additional resources and eventual capital improvements.
